While on an early morning run in Westwoods, I was inspired by the loving and beautiful Penni from Real Food Tulsa.  Her vibrant red hair sparked an idea for a smoothie, so once finished running, I headed off to the market to get a few goodies.  Here’s what I came up with.

The Radical Rubyroom Elixer

In a Blender, lovingly add:

1 1/2c Hibiscus Tea(chilled)

1 Pomegranate(about 3/4c seeds)

1c frozen strawberries

1 2in section of fresh aloe

1/2 lime, green peel removed

1t raw honey

1t royal jelly

pinch cayenne

4 sprays of rose hydrosol(mountain rose herbs)

Blend well, and enjoy!!

For a green version, add a handul, or two, of fresh baby spinach!

Today I headed north to Danbury to spend time with an amazing and inspiring couple, Kevin and Ann Marie Gianni.  Originally, I was there to tape a food demo, but as we got to talking, the video camera was turned on.

Here’s a clip of me preparing Wild Rice Stuffing at Catch a Healthy Habit Cafe in West Haven, CT.

Where do I begin?  It has been an action past few weeks topped off by my feeling that the people of America have finally decided it is time to change the ways of old.  I have complete faith that Mr. Obama will do his best to bring America back together!!

For me, the last 10 days where spent at the Eden Hot Springs in southeastern Arizona.  Hosted by Kerrie Dancing Butterfly of Journeys for the Soul, this powerful retreat was so perfectly titled Rocktober’s Halloween Soul Liberation Retreat!  Words really can’t describe how powerful and magical this land is.  Being out in nature, with out light pollution or any man made noises in the healing waters is just so comforting.  All week was constant reminders of how we really need to be in our bodies and reconnect to the land.  Constant close calls by rattlesnakes and the laughter of the coyotes brought forth much animal wisdom.  I must say that a week away at Eden is possibly one of the best gifts you can give yourself.  Kerrie is such an amazing teacher.  She truthfully walks her talk and consciously guides people into their true path.  I am so grateful to have connected with her and allowed myself to grow as much as I did last week.  I won’t say it was easy.  Kerrie certainly challenged me to get outside of my comfort zone and dig deep into my soul.  A 5 round sweatlodge was no easy task, but the freedom I felt after its completion is priceless.

The recent birth of a friends baby brought me to the retreat as one of the kitchen angels, and for me, the last 10 days was kind of a rebirth.  Along with Kerrie, some amazing healers like Samantha Sweetwater and Astarius brought forth powerful tools to allowing the body to heal in many ways.

It was a treat to work side by side with Melissa Mango and all the other kitchen angels.  It is such a bonus to create food with friends and do so with so much love and passion.  Ben, Jeff, Philip, Anaya, and Nikki kicked butt in the kitchen and made work so much fun!

The week was topped off by a fun costume dance party led by DJ Fun Young Moon.  The costumes were ridiculous.  Here is a sample of the craziness:

While at Eden I decided it would be best to avoid taking photos of the land and the surrounding hot springs, only because to me they do no justice.  If you want to know more, book a retreat with Journeys for the Soul.  Next up….Liquid Fasting retreat in May, I’ll see you there!!

As far as my future is concerned, it became very clear to me that I must head off and become a part of a community in which I can be guided to be my truest self.  I love and respect the town of my birth but realize it is not ideal to live in Connecticut year round.  So after hosting a workshop in Dallas, in early December, I will be heading out to Victoria, BC for an undecided amount of time to work with some amazing people. An amazing friend Sarah Maria has opened up so many opportunities for me that have been effortlessly flowing into our lives. Some great conscious businesses like Mole, Cafe Bliss, Gorilla Foods, and Kreatryx have welcomed me with open arms to rock out the raw community.

I look forward to the journey!
